Heidi Gallery: A Creative Space for  Community

Since its inception in 2021, Heidi Gallery has become an essential hub for artistic expression and education. Located within JSDD’s state-of-the-art facility, the gallery prioritizes inclusivity, engaging a diverse range of artists from established names to emerging talents and underrepresented voices. In 2025, Heidi Gallery Artist Membership was introduced—an initiative dedicated to nurturing creativity and strengthening community ties through art.

An Inclusive Creative Space

Heidi Gallery serves as more than just an exhibition space; it is a vibrant creative venue for various art forms, including music, dance, and poetry. By integrating different artistic expressions, the gallery invites community members to experience art in diverse ways.

Workshops, ranging from dance classes to poetry readings, provide hands-on engagement and encourage participation from all community segments. These events foster meaningful connections and inspire creativity across disciplines.

The Artist Membership: A New Initiative

Commencing in 2025, Heidi Gallery Artist Membership will expand how artists connect and collaborate. With the goal to create a supportive community, this initiative will enable artists of various backgrounds to share experiences, techniques, and insights. Ongoing professional development and community building within the group aim to empower every member, regardless of the extent of their artistic experience. Heidi Gallery will host an Annual Artist Membership Exhibit featuring the work of this ever-widening group of creatives.

Upcoming Exhibition: “Contextual”

To showcase diverse artistic perspectives, Heidi Gallery is thrilled to announce the upcoming juried exhibition titled "Contextual." Opening on March 6, 2025, this exhibit will explore the relationship between text and texture in exciting new ways.

Featuring 40+ artworks from established, emerging, and underrepresented artists, "Contextual" promises a rich display of thought-provoking pieces. The gallery encourages visitors to attend the opening reception from 6 to 8 PM on March 6, as well as a collage workshop on April 6, and a closing reception on May 4.

Building an Inclusive Community

Creating an inclusive community is vital in today’s world, and the Heidi Gallery actively embodies this principle along with full ADA accessibility. As the creative arm of JSDD (Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled) Heidi Gallery is uniquely positioned to showcase, seek out and encourage inclusive creative practices.

Since moving to Livingston in 2021, JSDD provided a new home for the WAE (Wellness | Arts | Enrichment) Center: A Holistic Creative Learning Center for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It is the work of the members of the WAE Center that inspired the buildings’ architect to build a gallery space to bring attention to the amazing art being created! Full inclusion is the goal, where people of all abilities can engage fully with exhibits and educational programs.
